The Doctor of Ministry in Biblical Preaching is a program designed to help pastors and church leaders take their proclamation to the next level.  Students will participate in a series of seminars and a directed ministry project to enhance their understanding of biblical preaching and to further develop their preaching gifts.

The Doctor of Ministry is a professional doctoral degree focused primarily on the practice of ministry. The educational experiences in the D.Min. program at Anderson University will be delivered through a hybrid approach, involving independent and online study, three week-long seminars (two on campus, one in a selected city), three event-based seminars, and development and implementation of a significant ministry project and subsequent dissertation. The student will be expected to plan, carry out and evaluate the project at a level appropriate for a doctoral degree candidate.  

A maximum of 15 students per year will be admitted to the D.Min, in Biblical Preaching, to assure each student of strong guidance and supervision at an appriopriate level.

The 35-hour program consists of the following elements:

Three residency seminars (five credit hours per seminar)               15 hours

Three event seminars (three credit hours per seminar)                     9 hours

Applied Ministry Experience                                                           3 hours

Project Methodology Workshop                                                       2 hours

Ministry Project                                                                                6 hours

The Doctor of Ministry student should anticipate spending approximately four years in pursuit of the degree; the student must complete the program within six years.

Applicants for the Doctor of Ministry should have a minimum of three years of full-time experience in a ministry vocation. The applicant must hold the basic theological degree (Master of Divinity, Master of Ministry, or its equivalent) from an accredited seminary or graduate school of ministry. A minimum of 42 hours of graduate study beyond the baccalaureate degree is required, including at least six hours in preaching/communication study. (Students without the prerequisite study in preaching can take the required courses through Anderson's Master of Ministry program prior to beginning the D.Min. seminars.)
